Visit the African penguin beach close to Cape Town. The endangered African penguin is only found in a few places on the south-western coast of Africa. In Cape Town we’re lucky enough to have a breeding colony within easy reach at Boulders Beach.
The world famous penguin colony at Boulders Beach gets its name from the 540 million year old granite boulders that help shelter the birds from the wind. Wooden boardwalks will take you within metres of the birds, and close-by, there is even a chance to swim with them.
There is a gift shop selling a wide variety of gifts and souvenirs.
